Creating a free America would serve as a model to other countries and future generations.
Jefferson hoped that with the Louisiana Purchase America could be more free, and serve as a model of liberty to all.
Louisiana Territory acquisition would help achieve Empire of Liberty.
More land=land for all men=personal independence=liberty
Minimize federal government
Powerful government would destroy independence of these free but united states.
More land=less governmental power=freedom from government
